I wanted to try something different... and this is what came out. * * * Looking at the Sun Daniel [ daniel@bcworks.net ] * * * Summary: Nothing happens in this story. Seriously. In fact, I don't think I'd even call it a story. It's more like a sketch, a snapshot, of sorts. The taste of the Ocean never cease to amaze me. The salty, almost metallic taste of the sea lingers in my mouth as I take in another lungful of fresh air. The smell of the place tingles my nose. It's like... I can never describe it fully, but I try to nevertheless. First, there's the fresh, cool scent of the ocean itself. Then there's the smell of the wildflowers that reminds me of the rose garden I have at home. The scent, though, is not quite the same - the wildflowers have that piquant, but earthly, quality. The refreshing, oxygen rich - I give myself a small smile for saying that - smell of the forest around me catches my attention as well... Oh, how can I forget his scent? I've been around him so much that I only notice its absence... it's definitely there. The words fail to describe the view of the place. Everything is covered by that blue eerie glow, the glow that signifies the nearness of sunrise. Fog covers the beach, adding to the mythical feel of the place. The fog is dissipating fast, however, and I can see patches of the golden beach with the ocean quietly lapping at them. The wave is truly random. I look up at the clear, blue sky. I notice hints of orange at the horizon and I patiently wait. Gradually, the sun raises its radiant face, and its rays cut through the fog as the blue glow quickly dissolve away. Alexander and little Annika notice the rising sun as well, and momentarily stops working on their sandcastle. I suddenly realize that I'm shivering a little. I snuggle in closer to him. As his strong arms tighten their grip, I can feel his warmth slowly sipping through my body, leaving me with this tingling feeling inside. I sigh in contentment.
