-------------------- Disclaimer: Paramount owns it all, all star, and all trek. I am getting NO profit. Although I did write this story the idea was not mine and I won't take the credit. I owe the idea of this story to an e-mail friend named Chris. Thanks for the idea. Note: This story takes place a little between the third 'Delta Days' and the beginning of my 'nightmares' series. I know it's not good backtracking all the time but Chris had such a good idea. Now this is an all Kim\Seven story no action, no death. Now unlike some of my other stories this one my get a PG-13 or even a R rating. Enjoy. Delta Day's 'Water Worries' By HADES Personal Log Harry Kim: stardate 50760.9: Tomorrow I will start yet another task that will no doubt be a challenging one. Teaching Seven to swim. Right after the four of us visited the holodeck two weeks ago seven explained to me that she couldn't swim. Luckily the holodeck safety protocols had been engaged so she couldn't drown. Never the less I think it's a good idea she at least know how. Seven seems to agree. End log. Harry leaned back in his chair and let out a sigh. Only two days ago he'd kissed her, it had felt right. He knew that Libby would have moved on, had made a life for herself, but he'd thought that they had been so happy together. Now it all seemed to shatter before him. He had always thought he loved Libby. He thought not even some 70'000 light years could change that. But he couldn't expect her to sit alone and wait for him to reach her. He had to go on, and he seemed to be going in the direction of Seven of Nine. It was love, it had been a crush for so long, but now he was sure it was love. He got up and walked into his bedroom. Did he love her, yes no doubt, Did she love him? Now that's the real question. ______________________________________________________________________________ Personal Log Seven of Nine: stardate: 50761.2: Today I start what many people call 'swimming lessons'. I find myself, feeling uneasy about this new training. However, I do see the relevance of it. Harry Kim will instruct me. I am not sure why but I find myself most at ease with him and I look forward to spending time with him. (Sigh) nothing makes sense when you are human. The collective made everything seem simple. Everything was relevant or irrelevant, efficient or inefficient, right or wrong. I-I can't understand anything now. Yet, I wouldn't go back to the Borg, I am, happy here and for the first time happiness seems to be relevant. End log. Seven picked up her assignments for the day and left the cargo bay she called home. Though Seven felt satisfaction in helping the crew in their united mission she found herself distracted. Her mind kept drifting to memories of time she had spent with Harry, memories that made her happy. She mentally scolded herself 'How can I be so inefficient, I will see him later' and another voice, from a different part of her seemed to answer back, 'I have feelings for him, more than a crew member, maybe more than a friend' she shook her head and forced the questions, and maybe the answers, back-down into her mind. ______________________________________________________________________________ On the bridge Harry wasn't doing much better. 'Man she look gorgeous in that bathing suit, those curves...' "Ensign Kim" '...and those bre... Harry get a grip,' "Ensign Kim" '....Harry for crying out loud, your starting to think like Tom, yeah, and the women flock to him...' A hand on Harry's shoulder pulled him back to reality. "Ensign Kim, are you all right?" Harry looked up into the eyes of Vorik, whose eyebrow was already raised in concern. "Oh, sorry Vorik, I was drifting a little, what do you need? " "I am delivering Lt. Torres requests for materials to scan for" "Oh, thanks I'll start immediately " he took the padd from him and began imputing the information. Vorik nodded and walked to the turbolift. Harry went back to his duties and didn't notice when Chakotay walked over. "Harry, do you have a moment?" Harry jumped a little at the sound of his voice. "Oh, yes, I mean of course commander" "Harry, you've been on edge today, like you're somewhere else, is there something wrong?" The first officer though kind and with good intentions wasn't the first person that Harry felt he could divulge his thoughts and feelings to. "Oh, I'm really sorry commander, my mind was just drifting a little, it won't happen again"he forced a smile. Chakotay seemed to accept this, he nodded and walked back to the command chair. Harry checked the chronometer then tapped his comm. badge, their was only one person he really trusted enough to talk to about girl problems. "Kim to Torres" a small pause, "Torres here, what do you need Harry?" "Are you free for lunch today, I need to talk" "Sure, mess hall 15 minutes, that OK?" "Great, see you then, Kim out"he tapped his comm. badge and cut the comm link. ______________________________________________________________________________ Harry sat alone in the corner of the mess hall stirring a plate of something he couldn't describe or digest. A short Talaxian man strolled over to him. "Well Ensign Kim, you seem a little glum today, is something wrong?" "No Neelix, I'm only waiting for B'elanna to get here" Harry stated, the Talaxian smiled and walked off humming some tune. He was always a friendly guy, but his constant cheerfulness could get annoying. The ensign looked up in time to see B'elanna walk towards him with a cup of coffee and sat down at the table. "So what's up starfleet?" she smiled as sipped her coffee. "B'elanna I just don't get some women..."he stated letting out a sigh. "Harry would this have anything with a girl with the digits 7 and 9 in her name?" She remarked as she winked at him. "You know I asked to talk to you to avoid Tom's sarcasm, but yes your right" "Sorry, well what's bothering you? Does it have anything to do with your recent kiss in sickbay?" "Yeah, I just, she seemed... was she kissing me because she wanted to or because she thought I wanted her to" B'elanna did everything in her power to stifle a laugh. "You say that like you didn't want her to kiss you" she said with a grin stretching ear to ear. Harry blushed a bit as she said this. She was right, he'd been in heaven for the few short seconds that their lips had met. "Look Harry, I don't know if you've been paying attention, but have you seen the way seven is when she's around you, call it female intuition but she has some real strong feelings for you, only you will be able to make her see them" she smiled and patted his hand, and for a millisecond Harry asked himself what things would be like if he had pursued a relationship with the half-klingon. He quickly pushed that idea out. "Harry?" She was like his sister, that's all he felt he needed from her. "Hey Harry, you in there?" again he realized he had drifted away from reality. "Wha...oh yeah Seven"he said not thinking about the fact that he was sitting in front of B'elanna. "Uh hey, Mr. Smooth, you just called me Seven" She chuckled a bit at his error. "Oops, sorry I guess I've got it pretty bad don't I ?" he blushed a little as B'elanna nodded. Realizing that they had been sitting there for a while Harry checked the time. "-it is 1233 hours-" "Oh great, I've got to meet seven in less than half an hour, thanks a lot Maquis, I'll see you" he hopped up from the table and headed for the door. B'elanna took another sip of her coffee. "Yeah, you've got it pretty bad" ______________________________________________________________________________ Seven stood in front of holodeck two patiently waiting for Harry Kim. 'Am I dressed appropriately, what will he be wearing, did Ensign Dolens just whistle at me?' Seven found herself asking completely pointless and irrelevant questions. 'Why was so nervous? It was only Ensign Harry Kim', she had no reason to be so nervous. Harry strolled up behind her giving her a small surprise. "Wha...oh, hello Harry" "Sorry Seven, I didn't mean to startle you" He smiled and tried to look her in the eyes, yet he found himself trailing down to her beautifully rounded chest. He caught himself and looked her eye to eye. "Well lets get started, computer, locate academy pool program alpha 01 " "Harry, why would you have to locate the program, could you not as easily just activate it?" seven cocked her head to the side as she asked him. "Well Seven, after the Hirogen took over Voyager for our holodeck technology we had several holodeck malfunctions," his smiled widened as he told the story "captain Janeway wasn't bothered by it tell she came to Master De Vinci's workshop and found two klingon's fighting to the death," Harry chuckled to himself, "and you should have seen the look on Tom's face when he found his Comoro being taken apart by Ferengi traders" Seven simply lifted an eyebrow in the Vulcan fashion. "I don't understand why you find his unhappiness amusing" Harry realized how he had come off in his statement about Tom's bad luck. "Well it's not as much his unhappiness, but the reason for it, it wasn't like he was badly hurt by it and we could easily fix it, it's the only the moment of surprise on Tom's face that I find humorous" Harry had gone a bit overboard in his explication. But Seven didn't seem to care, and excepted his answer. The computer beeped signaling that the program had been found. "Activate program" The doors let out a small hiss as they shut behind the two. The room smelled of chlorine, one of the few things that hadn't changed since the 20th century. The water rippled throwing and twisting the light from the windows. The dampness of the air had a strange yet calming affect on Seven. She looked around, intent on taking in all the aspects of the program. "Well Seven, why don't you put your towel down on that bench and lets begin" he said to her as he set his own towel down on the bench. She nodded and set her own towel down. "Is there a particular regimen for this exercise?" She asked. "Oh, that's right I almost forgot, here" he said as he gave her the padd by his towel, "this is an outline of what we will be studying, when we complete it will depend how quick you can learn" she took the padd and began scrolling down looking it over. "When your finished, get in the pool and we'll learn the basics" Harry let her finish up as he stepped into the pool, starfleet programers had done a great job on it, the water was at a cool, yet soothing temperature. He floated into the deeper water letting it swirl around him, he should do this more often. He looked up as Seven started to step in. Almost as soon as her foot touched the water, she pulled it back . "This water is very frigid!" Seven said in surprise, she looked up at him with a look of a small child waiting for an explanation. Harry couldn't keep the smile off his face. "Yeah it is, but it's not that bad, and it's only part of the program" she paused after his response and then stepped into the pool. ______________________________________________________________________________ Seven was an angle in the water. She was in good shape, a shape which even Harry's defenses could not resist looking for a glance now and then. She was a powerful swimmer and had easy control over her bodies movements, she quickly learned most anything she was taught. This was often to Harry's dismay because as the weeks progressed and she learned everything from treading to the back stroke, to even basic water rescues. Harry woke one morning and realized that he had only two more lessons, tops. He found himself, anxiously awaiting the lessons, Seven usually seemed so at ease in the water, more human even. It was so much easier to carry on a conversation with her when they were swimming together. He started looking for ways to prolong the sessions. As time had passed, he eradicated all doubt that he loved her. He longed to tell her how simply her face brightened his day, how her smile was the best, and rarest treasure there was. Yet he feared her rejection, he had never had a whole lot of luck with women, so he was so scared to make the first move. But nothing is ever so simple, at least not with Seven of Nine. ______________________________________________________________________________ In Cargo bay 2 Seven wasn't feeling much different. 'What is this feeling I have when I'm with Harry? Why must these lessons end so soon? Should I find a way to prolong them, would he be mad if I did?' She felt she had too many questions and no power to figure them out. She went over to the consol, and began looking for types of swimming that she hadn't covered. She finally found the perfect subject. She suppressed a smile, this would work perfectly. ______________________________________________________________________________ Harry couldn't stop smiling if his life had depended on it. He had been so worried about how to prolong the lessons and here he was about to join Seven on the holodeck for another lesson, and it had been her request! He wondered if he should ask her to dinner in his quarters, the dessert, then sex, well at least the first one. 'You can't push her Harry' he thought. Everyone who didn't know her assumed she was a tough independent ex-Borg. He saw more, a fragile woman, determined to understand things she should have known most of her life. Harry realized he was now in front of the holodeck, he hit the bottons to open the door but was met with "privacy locks in effect, Ensign Kim and Seven of Nine are the only authorized personal" he wondered why she would have engaged the privacy locks. For a split second he thought r pht not going in, 'if you don't go know you'll always regret it' he told himself. He was right, he wouldn't go around his whole life saying 'what if'. "Open doors, Authorization Kim Echo 26 Gamma 7," he let the doors open expecting the warm moist air of the pool, what he found was much different. As the doors swished shut behind he was left with only the light of the moon and the stars. A warm and gentle wind whipped around his head and the only sound was the rustling of leave and the chirp of crickets. A large lake rippled in front of him. He was surrounded on all sides by thick forest. "Seven, hey Seven where are you?" He called out. "I am here Harry" she called out behind him. He turned but was met only with an outline of her figure. She stood encompassed in the shadow of a tree. "Well where are we, it looks like earth" "It is, as I looked through the database I found one type of swimming that we had not covered, it suggested that a setting at night" he was a little surprised, he thought that they had covered everything that was important to know. And he couldn't think any kind of swimming that should be preformed at night. "Well what is it called?" Harry asked tired of the suspense. "On earth it is referred to as 'skinny dipping'" she had obviously guessed that question would come up, and as she answered she stepped into the light of the moon. Harry couldn't pick up his jaw, she was gorgeous, he had found that he could keep himself from staring at her when she was in her swimming suit (most of the time anyway), but now he couldn't keep his eyes from surveying her. Long muscular legs, wherever she did it, it was obvious that she worked out. With a thin figure and great hips lead up to two large, pale, perfectly rounded breasts. His eyes lingered on them for a moment. They cried out to be caressed, enjoyed. She had let her golden hair fall down behind her back. Needless to say Harry was speechless. "Um, Seven....I-I-I . . . Um, well.....y-you just, I..." he tried to get some control over his own mouth but he couldn't keep from rambling. She walked up to him as he mumbled, soon if she had been any closer their chest's would have been pressed together. 'If that happens I don't think I'll be able to control myself' Harry thought to himself as he shifted his weight to try to hide his enthusiasm. Her expression softened as she spoke. "Harry, since the kiss in front of the sickbay I believe that I may have strong feelings towards you that I don't experience with the rest of the crew, I wish to better understand these emotions" she avoided his gaze for a moment then looked him right in the eye, "I think I love you" she said it so nonchalantly that you might have assumed that they had just been walking down the corridor. He had waited so long to hear those words from her. Harry realized that this was one of those moments. Sure, every month or so he risked his life, for the crew, his friends, and even alien races with names he could barely pronounce, but this is different, somehow this is more important. He had to wonder, is this what she wants? Is this what I want? Am I only looking at her body, or at the whole person? Will I want to spend forever with her? Do I want to grow old with this woman? Suddenly, silence. All the questions that had reverberated in his skull had fallen silent. Now it was only that question. Will you love her when she is old, gray, frail? His life might depend on what he said next. But he couldn't say anything, so he kissed her, somehow it seemed more appropriate than anything he could have said. Suddenly Harry didn't see Seven as some woman with a great body, he could only see her as the person he loved. They held each other in their arms for far to long but either one could have stayed there twice as long. He smiled to himself, he hadn't been this happy in far to long. Neither said anything witty like 'well I like this lesson' or 'are we going to make use of that lake'. Somehow saying something like that didn't seem that appealing. They just wanted to be with each other, until they grew old.
