Summary: B'Elanna and Seven compete for Harry's heart, who will Harry choose? The Battle for Harry's Heart: Part Two By Daniel Harris E-Mail: adios@adios.demon.co.uk Harry was really confused. He respected and cared deeply for B'Elanna and her admission of her feelings toward him had shocked him. However, he also cared for Seven, she had an innocence which appealed to him. Seven was not only physically attractive but she possessed an air, which drew him to her. The question he had to answer though was did her love B'Elanna or Seven? Knowing the answer would not come easily he lay back in his bed and closed his eyes. * * * Seven stood stone faced on Astrometrics; she monitored the proto-matter nebula three point two point light years distant. Seven's mind, however, was not on the task at hand. Under the emotional shield she retained from her days as a Borg drone Seven was an emotional wreck. For the past year and a half she had grown emotionally and had fallen deeply in love with the man who had first offered her friendship, Harry more than any other onboard had helped her. The Doctor, Tuvok and the Captain were willing to talk to her but they did not offer the emotional support that Harry had. Without warning images of Harry floated up from her subconscious, she smiled and suddenly the fear that she might lose Harry returned. 'I cannot allow that to happen.' Abandoning her post Seven strode from Astrometrics. * * * Captain Janeway stumbled to the door wiping sleep from her eyes. Reaching the door she pressed the release and the door opened revealing Seven almost on the verge of tears. "Captain...I'm sorry for disturbing you while you were regenerating but...I...I.." Janeway suddenly reached out and enveloped the half-Borg. "Shhh, it's alright Seven. Come in." Pulling Seven across the threshold to her quarters Janeway did not relinquish her hold on the younger women. Leading Seven to over to the sofa she pushed her down and forced her to sit. "Why don't you tell me what's wrong?" Seven looked at her the usually stoic mask of the Borg female crumbling. "I cannot lose him Captain! I cannot let him go, I need him!" Captain Janeway was stunned by Seven's blunt admission. "I take it you mean Harry?" Seven nodded and Janeway knew she was in trouble. Seven's delicate emotional state could be shattered if Harry chose B'Elanna, but she couldn't order Harry to love Seven. "Seven, even if Harry chooses B'Elanna, it does not mean you'll lose him. He'll still be your friend." Seven looked at her "You do not understand. I LOVE him! I cannot lose him to Lieutenant Torres!" Janeway had no idea Seven felt that strongly for Harry. "Seven I not sure that I can help you. I can't make Harry love you, but I have seen you and Harry together and I feel certain that Harry loves you too. Give him time to sort out his feelings and you'll see that everything will turn out for the best." Seven contemplated this for a few moments. "Thank you Captain. I now FEEL better. I can now return to my duties in Astrometrics. Good night." With that Seven rose and left. Kathryn Janeway sighed and felt pity for Harry Kim, who ever he chose; he would hurt one of his friends. * * * The next day Harry entered the Messhall, thankfully, neither B'Elanna or Seven were there and he grabbed and tray and sat down. Tom was already there his face set in a lopsided grin. "Well, well Harry have you decided yet?" Harry shot Tom a dirty look and began eating. "This isn't funny Tom. I care for both of them but I don't know which if either I love." Tom face changed to one of genuine concern, knowing just how easy it was to love B'Elanna. "The only advice I can give you Harry is to consider which one means more too you, which one would you give your life for? If you can work that out, then you've got your answer." Breaking off the intense conversation Tom switched back to grinning. "Both will have to wait anyway, we're due on the bridge in five minutes." Finishing their breakfast both hurried to the turbolift. * * * Harry's shift on the bridge passed slowly, when his station did not require his full attention he allowed his kind to ponder on the problem of Seven and B'Elanna and as his shift came to an end Harry finally hand his answer. Harry was about to head to the turbolift when Captain Janeway called out "Harry, can I see you in my ready room for a few minutes?" Harry realising his own problems would have to wait. crossed and over and followed the Captain into her office. "Would you like to tea or coffee?" Harry sat as she moved to the replicator. "No thank you Captain." Janeway ordered herself a coffee and moved to sit at her desk. "I understand you've had to make a tough choice." Harry was startled that the Captain knew, while the fight in Engineering would obviously be brought to her attention he would have thought both Seven and B'Elanna unwilling to tell the Captain the reason. "Ah...er, yes Captain." The Captain smiled compassionately. "Don't worry Harry, I'm not going to tell you what to do I just want you to think carefully about your choice." Harry was relived. and Janeway noted the tension lift from his shoulders. "Thank you Captain. I have thought it over and I've actually made my choice. Now, however, I have to hurt a friend." Janeway again smiled compassionately. "Well Harry, I better let you get it over with. Dismissed" Harry rose and left. * * * Seven stood in her regeneration alcove even though she had no need to regenerate. She contemplated her possible future with Ensign Kim or the possible future without him and felt a sadness descend over her. Seven was startled from her contemplation by the chirp of her communicator and Harry's voice filtered into the cargo bay. "Ensign Kim to Seven of Nine." Seven's heart filled with hope and then faltered as she realised the ulterior motive Harry could have for contacting her. "Seven of Nine here." her breath baited she awaited his decision. "Seven, I need to speak with you, please come to my quarters at 1900 hours. Kim out." Seven was once again left alone to contemplate Harry's choice. B'Elanna stretched out on her bed. Her day in Engineering had been hectic. Carrey and Nicoletti were out with some viral infection and under quarantine and the warp plasma manifold was malfunctioning, what a day. "Kim to Torres." B'Elanna sat up quickly and hit her com-badge "Torres here." Harry seemed to pause before he spoke, and when he did, his voice caused B'Elanna's heart to sink. "I need to see you right away, can I come to your quarters?" B'Elanna needing to know greed and a few moments later her door chimed and Harry entered. A few moment later he left heading back to his own quarters to meet Seven. Seven was already there when he arrived and he invited her inside where he informed her of his decision. Part Three Coming Soon Only Kidding! The next day Harry strode into the Messhall and collected his tray. He waved at Paris and turned and made his way to Seven's table, and then proceeded to kiss her thoroughly. Harry had made his choice, Seven. Seven of Nine had won the Battle for Harry's Heart. Harry hoped his friendship with B'Elanna would survive this but his love of Seven was more important even than friendship, B'Elanna was a good friend and he still cared for her but she could never compete with Seven and Harry realised he should have known that from the start. Seven smiled at him and Harry smiled back. The Battle was over and a new day had begun. THE END -- Daniel Harris
