Kite (July 1999) Harry Kim arrived at Cargo Bay Two at the appointed time, all ready to spend the afternoon with Seven in the Holodeck. He was helping her with her social interaction. Today's lesson was supposed to be dancing. She wouldn't let him in. Wouldn't talk to him or anything. Finally, he used his override authorization to let himself in. Just to make sure Seven was all right, you understand. Seven screamed at his appearance. As he approached her, she yelled, "No! Don't touch me! I don't want your cooties!" She rushed past Harry and out the door. Leaving Harry totally confused and mouthing the word, "Cooties?" Harry stood there for a moment then asked the computer Seven's location. Sickbay? Well, that made sense. Maybe she was sick. Harry quickly made his way there. The doctor was running a scanner over Seven when he arrived, and she had the same reaction. Seven tried to rise from the biobed, but the doctor pushed her back down. "Seven, calm down. You didn't catch anything from the ensign." The doctor walked over to Harry and ran the scanner over him for good measure too, then continued, "Ensign Kim shows no sign of any vermin infestation. As I was telling you, he doesn't have cooties." Seven looked up in astonishment, "But I was told all men have cooties." Harry took an educated guess and said, "Naomi Wildman, right?" At Seven's nod, he chuckled. Then the doctor touched his combadge, "Samantha Wildman, please escort your daughter to sickbay." Presently, Ensign Wildman arrived with a very reluctant Naomi in tow. She nodded to Seven and Harry and asked, "What's this all about, Doctor?" "I believe Naomi can answer that, can't you, Naomi?" the doctor answered. Sam pulled her daughter around from where she was hiding behind her. "Naomi?" Her eyes got big and tears began to form. "What's the matter, honey?" Did you do something bad?" Naomi nodded. "Tell me." The child took a big breath and sobbed, "I-I, I told Seven of Nine that Ensign Kim had cooties. That all boys had cooties. I'm sorry. I just wanted her to stay and play with me and not go to be with *him*." Seven spoke up, "Then Ensign Kim does not have cooties?" Naomi shook her head in negation and whispered, "No." "You were jealous?" Naomi nodded and hid her face against her mother. Samantha was having none of that, though. She firmly took the girl's arms and drew her away. "I think you owe someone else and apology too, young lady. And after all the nice things that Ensign Kim has done for you." Naomi was truly ashamed, but forced herself to face Harry. In a voice, loud and clear, she said, "I'm sorry, Ensign Kim. Please accept my apology." Harry smiled at her, "I accept your apology, Miss Wildman." He turned to Seven and said, "I'll catch up with you later, all right Seven?" "Very well, Ensign," she answered. Seven moved then and squatted down level with Naomi. "Naomi Wildman, you have no reason to be jealous of Ensign Kim. You realize that, do you not?" Naomi made a face, "I guess so." "Very well, then. I'll see at our usual time tomorrow. Perhaps then we can finish our game." Naomi smiled at that, and mother and child left Sickbay. The End
