By Laura C. Disclaimers: I'm not making any money off of this, Paramount and Viacom own it all. :-) But...the story's mine! ****************************************************************************** Seven strode briskly down the corridors, her eyes never straying from the path in front of her. "Ensign Kim," she greeted him as he entered the corridor alongside her coming from the mess-hall. "Oh, hi Seven." He still looked slightly nervous. In fact, Harry had been a bit jumpy ever since encountering those aliens in their nightmares a few weeks ago. *He still hasn't told anyone what he was dreaming about,* Seven noted to herself. "Ensign Kim, I have noticed you seem...uneasy around me. Why is this?" Seven questioned forwardly. "What? I haven't noticed anything..." he trailed off. *Yeah right, you've been jumpy around her ever since that dream of yours...* "In any event, we had a stronger relationship before. I wish to bring it back to that level. Will you meet me on the holodeck this evening at 1800?" "Um...sure. What do you want me to bring?" His voice was still a little tense. "It is not necessary to bring anything. I will provide the dinner. Is this acceptable?" "Sure. See you then." Harry waved as he ducked off into the smaller corridor that his room was off. * * * * * *Nuts! How am I going to be composed around her for a whole evening? This is starting to be like that dream...not that I mind,* Harry allowed to himself as he entered his room. * * * * * *Good. I will mend my relationship with Ensign Kim. He is... more than merely acceptable. He is..what is the word? Maybe we can take our relationship a little further. He did mention dates on the holodeck when he was discussing relationships, did he not?* * * * * * Harry approached the holodeck unsure of what to expect. His eyes widened as he stepped through the doors. The grid was still there, and Seven was nowhere in sight. "Computer, what time is it? "1800," it's female voice replied crisply. *A former Borg late? She's never late! This has to be a first...I wonder what she's up to?* * * * * * Two minutes later Seven entered the holodeck clad in an evening gown for the first time in her life. Harry's eyes seemed to pop out of their sockets. "Ensign Kim," she nodded. "Hi Seven...please, call me Harry off duty. Am I underdressed?" he inquired, gesturing towards her formal wear. "No. I told Lt. Torres of my plans and she convinced me to wear this. She said it would...please you. Does it?" "Of course," was his quick reply, a tad to loud. "What will we be doing?" "Computer, run program Paris-Beta-twelve." The grid transformed into a ball room in a flash. "Care for a dance?" "I'd love to. Any particular song?" "I have no preference. You choose it." "Fine. Computer, play selection Kim-Alpha-Two." Soft clarinet music filled the room. "Do you like it? I was improvising one day, and I record my work while I play, so I decided to save it so I could hear it later. It's one of my favorites. I was trying to–" "Didn't you say you wanted to dance?" Seven took his hand and led him to the middle of the floor. From there, she proceeded to lead him through an intricate dance. "Where did you learn to dance like this?" Harry commented in awe. "The Borg assimilated it from species 4747. Is this acceptable?" "Yes, of course....It's just that I've never danced with anyone like you–I mean" Harry's face flushed as he was speaking, "I've never seen this dance before." "It is their binding dance performed only with their intended mate, alone. It is passed down though instinct from generation to generation. No one other than the two individuals have ever been in the room while it was performed. The females normally imitate it with the males they intend to mate with for life." "Their...their mating dance?" Harry stammered, his face taking on stunned look. "Yes." Seven paused as the music came to a quiet conclusion. "Take off your clothes. Resistance is futile." "But Seven..." Harry stuttered, "Don't you think that this is moving a little quickly? This is our first date! Can we take things a little more slowly? I want you–r friendship first. I can't take advantage of you like this. You've never been properly courted, and that's the best part. You don't want to skip the relationship part of a relationship." "Very well," she sighed. "I still do not see why it takes humans so long to act on their emotions. It is very....frustrating." Harry laughed softly, still embarrassed. "Maybe it is for all of us, Seven, but trust me...it's worth it in the long-run." "Very well. I will take your word." Seven remained stiff and her face betrayed no emotion whatsoever. "Hey, do you want to watch a movie instead?" Harry inquired. At that point he was willing to do anything to regain her regard. "What is a...movie?" "A form of entertainment on 20th century Earth. Tom introduced them to me. He goes to them with B'Elanna all the time." "It will be acceptable." "Great," he broke into a grin, "I have the perfect one in mind. Computer, start program Harry- Gamma-four-seven-Annie. It's a musical...about an orphan..." The scenery shimmered and changed into a theater. Both of the occupants of the holodeck sat down. *This must be what B'Elanna was describing. A picture on a screen with a story, but she said that she never paid attention to the story with Tom...* Seven quietly ordered the computer to eliminate the arm rest. "I think I may be familiar with movies after all." She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. "B'Elanna was talking about them with Captain Janeway, but I came in halfway through the conversation." *What have I gotten myself into?* a confused Harry asked himself. *Does she know what Tom and B'Elanna do? If so, I'm in for a rough evening, but it might be nice...* his thoughts trailed off as he started to focus on the world around him. The movie had started, but that's not what he was really paying attention to. *Maybe this wasn't the best movie for tonight...it's not quite an action movie...but I'm trying to become friends with Seven. This is a perfect one for her. She doesn't have a family, but we're making one for her. Even thought this may not be a thriller, this is the best movie to introduce her to them,* he finally decided. With that in mind he sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed the show. End (BTW, I live for feedback. My e-mail addy is Stars1001@aol.com, but keep in mind that this *is* my first K/7 story :-)
