Kathryn asked, as she and Chakotay walked to the holodeck. "It's just some harmless fun... a morale booster for the senior staff." He said, a little too happy about the whole situation, in Kathryn's opinion. She frowned at his reply, and he squeezed her arm and leaned over to whisper in her ear. "You're still the captain. If it gets too boring you can always override his commands." Kathryn raised an eyebrow. "Boring was not one of my concerns." ~*~ A few hours later, the holodeck doors opened and the senior staff exited. Most were laughing, having enjoyed a lively evening, socializing with their fellow officers. Tuvok's stoic expression was the only exception. Seven exited on Harry's arm, wearing a new, black and red uniform jacket. As they walked, she reached over and straightened the two new pips on Harry's collar, lining them up with the original one. "Mr. Kim, I'd better not see your 'winnings' show up on the bridge," Kathryn called after him, with a chuckle. "Yes, ma'am," he answered with a salute. Janeway shook her head, and then dodged as one of the boots Chakotay was juggling sailed past her. Tuvok snatched it out of the air before it could cause any damage, and 'presented' it back to Chakotay in an exaggerated manner. "I believe this is your trophy from the evenings festivities, Commander," he said, his eyebrow arched. "I believe it is, Commander." Chakotay said, accepting the boot with a slight bow, and a matching raised eyebrow. Kathryn twirled a length of black fabric as she walked down the corridor with Chakotay. "I wonder how many rations I can get for these." Chakotay looked at the pair of uniform pants she was toying with and chuckled. "You might get a better price from B'Elanna?" Kathryn laughed and caught his arm. Pulling him close, she leaned her head on his arm as they walked. As the laughter faded in the distance, Tom poked his head out of the doorway. He clutched at the flowered tablecloth wrapped around his waist. "Hurry up, B'Elanna," he muttered. A few minutes later B'Elanna arrived and tossed a shirt and pants in through the door. A moment later he stumbled out wearing them. He straightened his collar as they started to walk back to their cabin. "You know... you really are an idiot," B'Elanna muttered as she punched his arm. "Ow," Tom whined. "It was just supposed to be a little fun to lift morale." "And it was," B'Elanna laughed. "Did you see Harry's face every time Seven spun that bottle and it landed on him?" "No, I was too busy watching Chakotay's face when Kathryn was spinning it," Tom grinned. "Yes, you were very clever rigging that game," she said in a patronizing tone. "I just don't get it. We play poker all the time, I wrote the holo-program, and I was even dealing, with my own deck." Tom mumbled to himself. B'Elanna stopped suddenly, causing him to bump into her. Turning she eyed him with disbelief. "You are an idiot! Normally we play in someone's cabin." "Hunh?" He shrugged and looked at her. B'Elanna sighed. "H o l o g r a p h i c cards." "What?" ~*~*~ As they walked into Kathryn's quarters, Chakotay tossed the boots on the floor next to the door. Kathryn folded the pants and dropped them onto boots, and then she watched curiously as Chakotay fished something out of his pocket. "What's that," Kathryn inquired. Chakotay waved a deck of playing cards at her, before adding them to the pile. "He didn't notice?" Kathryn asked. "Obviously not," Chakotay laughed, as he gathered her in his arms, and they both fell onto the couch laughing. "We make a good team," she murmured between kisses. ~*~*~
